Factory Production Planning and Control accelerated by AI

The challenge

In a manufacturing operation with multiple interdependent steps, Production Planning and Control must reconcile the order book, deadlines, production capacities, resource availability, and process dependencies. Changes in priority, delays, or constraints at one stage affect the rest of the schedule, requiring frequent replanning and making it difficult to maintain a single, updated view of the production plan.

The solution developed

CISP1 developed an AI-accelerated PPC application that consolidates information on production orders, stages, capacities, and operational constraints and transforms this data into a structured view of the manufacturing plan. The application supports activity sequencing, order prioritization, and bottleneck identification, considering dependencies between different production phases.

In addition to initial scheduling, the solution was designed to support replanning. Changes in operational conditions can be incorporated into the process to recalculate priorities, highlight impacts, and present alternatives to the PPC manager, keeping the final decision under the production team's control.
